Beginning 100m before the ranger s office at the fortescue bay camping area the cape pillar circuit gently climbs into the forest.

Tasman island lies directly head and the cliffs of cape pillar can be seen on both sides of the rocky promontory. From cape pillar head back to munro hut collect you backpack to head to third night accommodation retakunna. Wughalee falls is now the only camping area available for independent walkers. The trail is rated as difficult and is primarily used for hiking. I reach the tip of cape pillar and ascend the blade at 11 30am.
