Carrara marble water stains.

Rust stains are yellow brown stains. A yellow brownish stain has begun to appear on the marble bench slab. If these deposits are exposed to water they can rust and leach through to the surface causing the yellow brown stains. A marble stain is when a substance is absorbed into the pores of the marble.

Rub the paste into the stain with a soft cloth. This is because the pores are closed down in the polishing process. The process of making a marble poultice is very important considering that most of the stains can be removed. It started out faint has gotten brighter and appears to be growing.

Marble is not very absorbent so it does not stain easily. When water is cyclically applied to carrara marble the water will penetrate the marble surface time and time again. Over time the water will begin to rust the metallic deposits inside the stone and create a yellowish stain inside the stone. Cover the area with plastic wrap for 24 hours.

Rust stains carrara marble contains little bits of iron. Remove more difficult stains and water spots with a thick paste of baking soda and water. Don t use soap as it is fat based and can cause the stone to darken. Iron deposits that are embedded in white marble tile especially carrara marble are typically the cause of this type of stain.
